ARNOLDS PARK LIBRARY BOARD

MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2015

The Arnolds Park Library Board met Monday, April 6, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the Arnolds Park Library.

Members present were Joyce Burgeson, Mitch Brown, Robb Keizer, Barb Woodley and Librarian, Kara Rice. Absent was Diana Jensen.

There were no minutes for March due to lack of quorum. The minutes from February 11, 2015 were read. Burgeson moved to approve the minutes as presented, Brown seconded. All aye.

Rice said the FY 2016 budget was approved by the City Council. She presented a copy of the 2015 budget expenditures through April 1st. 71% has been expended, so the library is in good shape.

Rice said that someone came looking for a part time summer job. She asked the board if extra employees had ever been hired in the summer. The answer was no.

Donated and weeded books. The State advised the library they can’t give away books for free, so a donation box has been placed above the book cart of used books. All donations received will go to the library foundation.

Rice passed out a copy of the proposed summer reading program that will run from June 3rd to June 24th with a theme of “Super Heroes”. The first week the Blank Park Zoo will bring in smaller zoo animals. The zoo program will be paid by the Library Foundation. Following weeks will be Historical Super Heroes, local Super Heroes such as firemen and police, and a program by the Nature Center. The participants will turn in the minutes they read each week for their chance to spin the “Wheel of Fortune” for a special prize. The kids also get a free book. Rice will issue press releases in the local paper and have the information posted on the library website.

Bills for March 2015 were presented in the amount of $2,039.57. Brown moved to approve the bills as presented and Burgeson seconded. All aye.

Bills for April 2015 were presented in the amount of $2,203.80. Keizer moved to approve the bills as presented and Brown seconded. All aye.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, May 13, 2015.
