ARNOLDS PARK LIBRARY BOARD

The Arnolds Park Library Board met Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in the Arnolds Park Library.
Members present were Mitch Brown, Joyce Burgeson, Diana Jensen, Barb Woodley, Robb Keizer, and Librarian Kara Rice.
The minutes of November 12th were read and approved.
Rice reported the Library Foundation met December 1, 2014. The members granted $2,200 to the library. Donations included $750 toward the new printer/copier, $300 for large print books,
a new computer chair, support for the summer reading program, $300 for children’s books, and are paying to have the chairs cleaned.
City Hall/Library open house will be December 12th from 10 – 3.
Christmas at the library was set for December 13th, but there was a conflict, so it is re-scheduled for December 20th. Mr. and Mrs. Santa will be attending.
Rice presented a copy of the sticker sheet that will be placed inside each book cover for the reader to initial so they know they had read that book. She also had a copy of the inter-library loan sheet that will be included with loaned books suggesting a donation to defray the cost of postage.
There will be a Foundation Appreciation night on January 6, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Milford Community Building.
Pets in the library: The city has a community room rental policy regarding pets being allowed only if they are service dogs. There are very few patrons who bring in their pets, but to be consistent, it was discussed if the library should adopt a similar policy. After discussion, Keizer moved to follow the City policy. Burgeson seconded. All aye.
Christmas Eve hours: The City offices close at 1:00 p.m. on December 24th. The board agreed that the library should also close early.
Rice presented a copy of the current budget for FY2015. She reported the budget is in great shape for the halfway mark of the year.
Rice then presented the proposed budget for FY2016. Discussion followed of the 5% cost of living increase and those line items that were increased and why. Keizer moved to approve the proposed budget as presented. Burgeson seconded. All in favor. Rice will go to the city meeting when they discuss and approve the budget.
Bills were presented for December in the amount of $4,886.10. Rice explained the bills. There being no discussion, Brown moved to accept the bills as presented. Burgeson seconded. All aye.
The next meeting will be held January 14, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.
