ARNOLDS PARK LIBRARY BOARD

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14, 2015

5:00 P.M.

The Arnolds Park Library Board met Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the Arnolds Park Library.

Members present were, Joyce Burgeson, Mitch Brown, Barb Woodley, Robb Keizer, and Librarian Kara Rice. Absent was Diana Jensen.

The minutes of December 10th were read and approved.

Rice reported the blank sheets have been placed in the front of each book for patrons to sign if they have read it. The inter-library loan suggested donation sheets are being handed out to patrons who borrow books.

Pets in the library – Rice said she had spoken to the patron who sometimes brings in her pet and explained the library policy of no pets unless they are a service animal. There were no issues with that.

Update on budget for FY2016 – Rice said the proposed library budget was turned into the city for review. The insurance for the librarian was less than last year, so there actually was no increase in the budget request. Next month the City Council meets to approve the budget. Rice will attend. Board members are also welcome.

Policy review for Accreditation due March 1, 2015 – Rice explained the library’s State accreditation expires July 1, 2015 and a new application is due by March. She will be reviewing the collection development policy, internet use policy and library by-laws and make any updates. She also has to come up with a 3 year library plan. She will present the suggested changes and plan at next month’s meeting for board review.

Bills for January were $3,379.82. The largest expense was 10 new shelves installed. After review with no questions, Burgeson moved to accept the bills as presented. Brown seconded. All aye.

Rice advised that Cindy Davis with Spirit Lake library tried to help her with the SILO program which was not working correctly. It may be that the library will need to update their software. Most area libraries use a program called Apollo. If that is the case and the new program is expensive, City Administrator Ron Walker said the city could adjust the budget if necessary. Rice should know by next month if new software is necessary.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
