The Arnolds Park Library Board met Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the Arnolds Park Library.

Present were Diana Jensen, Joyce Burgeson, Mitch Brown, Robb Keizer, Barb Woodley, and Library Director, Kara Rice.

The minutes of April 13, 2016 were read and a correction was noted. Keizer moved to approve the minutes as corrected. Burgeson seconded. All aye.

Rice presented the board with a copy of the year to date expenditures for the 2015-2016 budget. The $10,000 budget amendment was not included in the report.

Rice reported on the library’s Website/Facebook page. Sarah Riley is getting it updated and doing well. There have been lots of hits on the Facebook page.

VersaCard: This is a new type of statewide library card. If you are in another town and have a VersaCard, you can check out books in any library. This card needs to be issued in your hometown if you wanted to visit multiple libraries. This will require special software. Rice wants to wait to see how it is working, but if all goes as planned, it will be in place by July 1st.

Jensen mentioned that our library owes statewide service because we are an open access library. Rice said some libraries won’t check out a book to a patron unless they have their library card with them. Arnolds Park is not going to do that at present.

Grant for new computer: Rice said the library was approved for the Alliant Energy Grant of $2,600 which means the library can purchase on Early Literacy Station.

Summer Reading Program: A few more business donations for the summer reading program have come in. Rice will be at the elementary school next Tuesday and Wednesday to promote the summer reading program. This will be advertised in the newspaper next Tuesday and they have a display in the library. Everything needed for the program is ordered and the book order has been sent in.

Bills through May 11, 2016 were presented in the amount of $4,026.15. In review, the Amazon bill has not been received yet, so Rice put in $500 for that line item. The color copy cost was up. A local company did a lot of colored pages, and the staff had to let them know the library is not a commercial business.

There being no questions, Brown moved to approve the bills as presented. Burgeson seconded. All aye.

Keizer moved to adjourn. Brown seconded. All aye.

The next meeting will be June 8, 2016.
